Permissions and role hierarchy

Why placement matters and how to fix a misbehaving setup.

Discord enforces role hierarchy strictly. A bot can only manage roles below its own highest role, and can only act on members whose highest role is below the bot's highest role.

Recommended placement#

Place the Auditer role at the top of your role list, just below the owner / co-owner roles. This gives Auditer authority to manage every other role, recreate any deleted roles via snapshot rollback, and respond to anti-nuke triggers without permission errors.

Common mistake

Putting Auditer below your "Moderator" role means Auditer cannot strip Mod roles in an anti-nuke event. If a moderator account gets compromised and starts deleting channels, the response action will fail.

Channel-level permissions#

Make sure Auditer has View Channel and Send Messages in every log channel you configured. If logs stop appearing in one specific channel, this is usually why.
